THE St Arnaud Senior Citizens hall is used for more than just bingo and exercise classes.

Organisers come together for special occasions to give residents a nice surprise in the form of a display within the room.

At the moment, a range of memorabilia and historic pieces are on display in the lead up to Anzac Day.

Gwenda Wescott said for the small team putting each set up together, it’s about spreading awareness and joy.

“We’ve got the stage there and we think it’s a nice thing to use it for,” she said.

“We’ve done a few of them now, one for Easter, one for Valentine’s Day.

“I think it’s important to celebrate days like those and show off a bit of local history at the same time.”

The Anzac Day display features a range of tea spoons collected over many years and Anzac biscuit tins.

“Everyone has some sort of connection to the war,” Ms Wescott said.

Find the hall in Golden Street.
