Bail breach leads to car impound
St Arnaud police attended a rural residential property north-east of town to conduct a random bail compliance check last Friday.
A MAN who breached his bail conditions has lost his car following a check-in from police.
St Arnaud police attended a rural residential property north-east of town to conduct a random bail compliance check last Friday.
Police discovered the person was not at home, contrary to a condition of their bail.
Shortly after leaving the address, police intercepted a vehicle travelling along the road towards the property.
The driver, a 32-year-old St Arnaud man, was found to be driving while his licence was suspended and in breach of an additional bail condition prohibiting him from driving.
He was interviewed in relation to the alleged offences of driving while suspended and contravening bail conditions.
The following morning, 28 May 2026, police returned to the property and seized the vehicle registered to the man’s partner for a period of 30 days. The cost to have the vehicle released will be $2,700.
The man will be summonsed to appear before court at a later date to answer for the alleged offences.
St Arnaud police said they are actively conducting bail compliance checks and will continue to hold individuals accountable for breaches.
