THE surprise packet from the 2026 Interdominion Series that concluded in Brisbane on Saturday night was undoubtedly the Victoria trotter Gotfeelingsyouknow - trained by Chris Svanosio.

This was all for an ownership group of St Arnaud’s Rod Wilton along with J Verdichizzi, S Weeks, H Weeks, W Trotter, R Purcell, K Peart, G Peart, P Svanosio, A Ogden, J Weeks and G Weeks.

He was driven throughout the series by 23-year-old Queenslander Angus Garrard who, even at this early stage of his career, has driven more than eleven hundred winners.

After being placed just once in its previous six Victorian starts, the six-year-old Majestic Son was rated a $23 chance in its heat on night one of the series.

But with the pole draw and a cosy sit behind the leader in the run the gelding surprised the pundits by dead-heating for first with fellow Victorian Rockinwithattitude.

On night two, Gotfeelingsyouknow drew the coveted pole position again.

After a slightly quicker last half, 54.4 seconds compared to 55.3 seconds, he failed by a short half head to catch his stablemate Arcee Phoenix, who was the defending champion after winning the 2025 series.

On to the final night and this time he drew barrier three for longer 2680m race with the $1.85 favourite Gus in two and the speedy Victorian trotter Im Bobby in barrier one.

Unable to lead “feelings” found himself midfield for most of the first 2000m and was eighth at the 600m before following the eventual winner Gus three wide around the final turn and despite trotting faultlessly in the straight he failed by 1.2m to take out the Championship.

Maryborough raced on a rain-affected track Monday with the Youngson stable and James Herbertson combining for another win.

This time it was the eight-year-old mare Champagnes who has now won three with five placings this season and in winning she beat the Ashley Ainsworth trained and driven Boutika who is by the Youngson’s stallion Danny Bouchea.

Charlton trainer Mick Gadsden had one starter at Shepparton on Tuesday night, Megawatts and despite it being number seven in the last race it was much too good for the opposition, eventually winning by 12.2m.

The six-year-old mare is raced by Emily Wombwell and W and L Spencer and has now two from the four starts it has had for the owners.

Long serving St Arnaud HRC secretary Kaye Boyd has retired from the position that she has filled for the past twenty-two years.

Fortunately for the Club Lindsay Ezard has put his hand up for the secretary’s role and Shaun McNaulty will take on the Treasurers job that Kaye has been covering of more recent times.

Shane Swanton will replace Lindsay as vice president.

This week’s meetings are both in the daylight, Swan Hill on Friday and Horsham next Monday.
