Festive spirit shines at break up

THE St Arnaud Twilight Bowlers wrapped up the year in fine form with a lively Christmas break-up game.
The event on December 4 drew eight teams to the green despite the flurry of end-of-year events around town.
Perfect warm weather set the scene for 12 ends of friendly - but fiercely contested - competition.
The evening kicked off with the traditional novelty events: a closest-to-the-kitty challenge at centre green, followed by a closest-to-the-ditch contest.
Craig Cheesman and Wayne Rourke proved their precision, each walking away with a box of chocolates, while Damian Yole claimed bragging rights as the first to score a resting toucher.
Competition remained tight throughout the night, with two matches ending in a draw and two more decided by just two shots.
The biggest winners of the evening and the recipients of the Country Kitchen’s free pizza prize were Tom Amos, Gerald McIntyre and Brad Chester, finishing an impressive six shots ahead.
Two teams shared runner-up honours, both finishing two shots up: Terry McSwain with Rob and Chris Batters, and the duo of Brian Eccles and Damian Yole.
Players rounded out the night with an enjoyable supper, capping off what many described as one of the most social and entertaining evenings of the season.
Twilight Bowls will take a short break over the holidays and return to the greens on Thursday, January 22.
