THE GOODE family has now been immortalised on the farm that’s been in their name for five generations.

Joseph and Honora Goode settled as farmers in Sutherland in 1875.

One hundred and fifty years later, 38 descendants and their families gathered to commemorate that milestone and also to celebrate Christmas.

In honour of the family’s long history at Sutherland, a wooden plaque made from the flooring of an old barn on the farm was gifted to the “senior” generation.

It was designed by Matthew Goode and produced by Thomson Goode.

The home on Fitzpatrick Road is on the original selection and the farm has stayed in the family, in the capable hands of Simon and Naomi Goode and their four children.

Members of the fourth generation are Kevin, Denis, Tony (dec.) John and Gerard Goode, Mary McCormick nee Goode and Noreen Baxter (nee Goode).

Their father Pat was the only one of seven in his family who married and he and Mary (nee Downes) produced seven children also.

There are now twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.

The family looks forward to continue celebrating the history that still lives on the property.
