IN BRIEF: free measles vaccines and youth funding up for grabs
Here's some news we didn't want you to miss.

Get a funding boost
YOUNG locals are being encouraged to apply for grants to create youth-led events under Youth Fest 2026.
Grants of up to $2,000 are now open to schools, local councils and community organisations to team up with people aged 12 to 25 to create events focused on young people throughout the month of September.
The Youth Fest program focuses on events which promote sustainability, mental health, music, sport and much more, helping to connect young people with their communities.
Last year, across the Mildura electorate, grant recipients included Mildura Rural City Council’s Youth Awards, Birchip Neighbourhood House’s Youth Group and Buloke Shire Council’s Youth Fest.
Youth Fest 2026 applications are open until Friday, March 4. To apply and to find out more, visit www.youthfest.vic.gov.au.
Children’s free vaccine
MEASLES can be very dangerous for young children, and there has been a concerning rise in cases across Australia spread by travellers returning from overseas in the past 12 months.
To combat this risk, there will be a free clinic run at the Maryborough Community Hub on Thursday.
