Jack shaves 20 seconds off best time in winning swim

ST ARNAUD Piranhas enjoyed a highly successful outing at the Warracknabeal Swim Meet on Saturday with eight swimmers competing in warm summer conditions and producing outstanding performances across the board.

ST ARNAUD Piranhas enjoyed a highly successful outing at the Warracknabeal Swim Meet on Saturday with eight swimmers competing in warm summer conditions and producing outstanding performances across the board.

Jesse Amos was the standout performer, contesting five events and winning all five.

The highlight of his day came in the Men’s Open 100m freestyle, where he claimed the prestigious Warracknabeal RSL Perpetual Trophy with a dominant victory.

Eight-year-old Grace McNally showed plenty of promise, competing in three events and finishing a creditable third in the 50m backstroke.

Jack McNally also impressed, racing in four events. He stormed to first place in the 50m butterfly with a personal best time, slashing an impressive 20.13 seconds off his previous mark, and added a second placing in the 50m breaststroke.

Eliza Scarce competed in four events and recorded consistent results, finishing second in the 50m breaststroke and third in both the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly.

Heidi Start delivered an exceptional performance, contesting nine events for eight first placings and one second.

Her standout swim was the Women’s Open 100m freestyle, where she secured the W. Moroney Perpetual Trophy.

Stacey Taylor competed in three events, finishing second in the 50m breaststroke and third in both the 50m freestyle and backstroke. Milla Taylor-Rogers raced in eight events and achieved third place finishes in the 100m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke.

Finn Wilson also represented the club strongly, competing in six events and finishing second in the 50m backstroke, along with third placings in the 50m butterfly and freestyle.

In the relays, the Piranhas’ 14 and under medley team finished fourth, while the 14 and under freestyle relay placed fifth.

The Open medley and freestyle relay teams both performed exceptionally well, finishing second.

The Piranhas return to competition at the first of two home swim meets in St Arnaud on January 31.
