CHARLTON Bowling Club was at the centre of a vibrant day of competition and community spirit, hosting its annual Fours Medley tournament under clear skies and near-perfect conditions.

Sixteen teams from across North Central clubs and regional Victoria travelled to Charlton, with sides representing Boort, Calivil, Donald, Kerang, St Arnaud, Sunbury, Ocean Grove and beyond, creating a lively and social atmosphere throughout the day.

While the visitors brought strong competition, the spotlight remained firmly on Charlton as the small club once again demonstrated its ability to deliver a successful and welcoming event.

Tournaments like these play a vital role in keeping local clubs thriving, providing not only competition but an opportunity for players to reconnect and strengthen community ties.

The unique medley format saw teams compete across four games, rotating between fours and pairs matches, adding variety and strategy to the day’s play. Despite Charlton’s strong presence - including a mixed team that finished third - Kerang Bowling Club proved dominant, winning all four games to claim the title with players Lindsay Heine, Kevin Teasedale, Rodney Pascoe, Algne Fagg.

The tournament’s success was underpinned by the efforts of volunteers, including the club’s ladies, committee members, bar staff and greenskeepers, whose work ensured a smooth and enjoyable day for all involved.
