King Saint rock and rolls way into winner’s circle
The Rock N Roll Heaven gelding, who was driven by Jack Laugher, has now had nine starts since shifting to the Tormey stable for three wins and four placings.

THE John Tormey stable was back in the winner’s circle last week with success at
Shepparton with Swan Hill owner/breeder Noel Watson’s four-year-old King Saint.
The Rock N Roll Heaven gelding, who was driven by Jack Laugher, has now had nine starts since shifting to the Tormey stable for three wins and four placings.
The stables’ second winner for the week was at Mildura on Friday afternoon, Yarraman Jolt, a four-year-old by Village Jolt who was formerly trained by Russell Jack and now has a win and a placing in its three starts for the Tormey camp.
The winning driver was again Jack Laugher and it was one of four wins the ex-Tasmanian had on the day taking his season’s tally up to eighty wins.
Wednesday night the action was at Ballarat and the twelve-year-old The Democrat won race two for Moyreisk trainer/driver Ashley Ainsworth and its owner, galloping trainer Barry Ainsworth.
The winner had good form for the Up to 39 front having broken two minutes around the tight Albury track when running second there the previous week.
The second placegetter at Ballarat was Di Angelo, who was driver by Navarre reinswoman Ada Massa for Ashley’s brother Toby Ainsworth.
Two races later and it was another success for Hannah Parish, Champagnes and trainer Nick Youngson with the eight-year-old mare making it three wins in a row when she easily accounted for the opposition winning by 5.1m and rating 2.00.1 for the 1710m race.
Hannah who has now driven eighteen winners is the grand daughter of former Minyip trainer/driver Max Parish who had good success around the Wimmera tracks in the 1960s and 70s.
Max passed away about five years ago.
Melton raced on Friday night with the Shaun and Jason McNaulty trained Insider Trading showed the opposition a clean pair of heels by leading from barrier four and eventually winning by 5.4m off a last half of 55.9 seconds.
The winner, who was driven by James Herbertson, is raced by D Gray, S McNaulty, M Gray and B Pell and was having its first start since running second in the Warragul Cup on the long weekend in June.
The winners stablemate Pesci ran a strong second later in the programme after having to go back at the start from a wide draw and then having to pace its last half in 54.98 off the track to get within 1.5m of the winner who had led most of the way.
If you have a horse to race before Charlton on August 17, you had better pack a cut lunch because you’ll have a long drive to get to a meeting until then with none close to home.
