Long travel to Warragul worth trip for McNaulty

Although success in the new look Warragul Cup with Insider Trading eluded them despite the horse performing admirably in both the heat and the final.
In the second heat of the cup, Insider Trading drew barrier two on the second row over the 1790m trip and despite having run a 57.55 last half mile off the track the gelding fell 1.5m short of victory.
In the final, he drew barrier one on the second row and despite the freakish manoeuvre by driver James Herbertson to get off the pegs.
Early in the race he still had to make a run wide around half the field in the last lap to eventually finish beaten 2.4m.
The Warragul Club ran five races between the Cup heats and final with Scott Torney coming second with his mare Tension Seeker in the mobile trot
The McNaulty brothers won with Gallico for his owners from the near north W Holt, L McAllister, B Geary, A Collins, K Fitzgerald, H Bugge, L Holt, L Fitzgerald, P Brown, T A Brown, LP Polkinghorne, J Donaldson and N Holt.
On Tuesday night, it was a six race card at Shepparton and three-year-old filly Soho Amaryllis from the Charlton stable of Stephen and Connor Clarke won her second race.
Connor was able to use the sprint lane to advantage to win by a half neck in a slick 1.55.4 which was the fastest rate for the night.
Connor’s success continued the next night at Bendigo when he won on the Mick Gadsden trained To The Nines.
He was selected as a yearling by Mick’s late father Jeff Gadsden and has now won nine with twenty placings from its fifty-nine starts.
The last local success for the week was for the Navarre stable of Toby Ainsworth and Ada Massa who trained the quinella in the last race at Ballarat on Thursday night.
The winner was Robert John driven by J Herbertson and Rasengan with Ada in the sulky coming a close second. They race at Maryborough and Bendigo today, Wednesday, and Horsham next Monday.
