Lopsided comp at finish of second round of pool comp
The home derby of the round took place in the Parisian quarter of the village, where the Farmers’ Arms number One side firebombed the Two’s.

ROUND two of the 2026 season of the Inter-Hotels Pool Competition was played on April 29, and the matches predictably went in favour of the competition’s heavyweights in a round that was as lopsided as the AFL’s Anzac Day weekend fixture.
The home derby of the round took place in the Parisian quarter of the village, where the Farmers’ Arms number One side firebombed the Two’s.
Only Alayne Cunningham managed to avert the ignominy of a Napier Street posterior presentation by taking a frame off Hayden Perry, while her teammates Jack Hodges, Luke Pole and Bianca Cannon were each banished respectively to the bar by Shane Cross, Leigh Watkins and Ned Gorrie.
To add insult to injury, in the only game required in the third round, Alayne suffered the misfortune of performing a fatal error on the break that cost her the game.
The Ones then went on to win both doubles for a match-winning score of ten games to one.
To the north of town, the eucalypts are stressed and the fairways are parched. However, the Country Cup Two team were to cascade down upon the visiting warriors from the Pub in the Scrub.
Club Two captain Harley Durward opened proceedings against opposing captain Shaun McNaulty as he had left off at this venue in last’s years Granny before the Logan’s Ben Pell struck back against Jake Male.
However his teammate, Stephen Rodger, retuned the match to even keel when he executed a foul on the black ball in his frame with Will Jackson.
The C2 were never headed after that as Grant Doyle concluded the first round by out-kneading Pizza Pete Anderson.
The second round was a facsimile of the first as Harley, Ben, Stephen and Grant each drowned out their respective opponents with the Rollers and Floggers.
They then won both doubles to hose down the parched Avoca Foresters by eight games to two.
Pan-fried Pete was heard to complain that, as he had only had five shots in his match, they had effectively cost him one dollar each.
The Sporting Club was to be the scene of the close one when their team hosted the Country Club One side.
The visitors grizzled veteran Paul Mullins opened the scoring against Jesse Cook and Troy Shields followed up with a win against Gerry Merrin.
Dan Harkin was to surrender to the Club’s seasoned campaigner, Dayle Pitt and Des Moulday.
His enlarged cranium still in the clouds after his beloved Magpies demolition job on the Bombers on Anzac Day, lost his opening frame to Josh Cook with a foul on the black.
The match would still be in a state of equilibrium at the end of the second round after Jesse had squared his match with Paul, Troy and Dayle had retired Gerry and Dan and Des - his Magpie melon now back on terra firma, - levelled his match with Josh to terminate the round.
It would appear that his team from the bastion on the hill had run out of petrol tickets for the third round, and the ensuing doubles matches as Paul and Des each terminated their opponents before Paul and Dan teamed up to win he first of the doubles against Jesse and Dayle.
It was left to the C1’s talking Magpies, Heckle and Jeckle, to deliver the coup-de-grace against Gerry and Josh (something their footy team couldn’t do against the Hawks on Thursday night) for an eight games to four victory.
