Miss Doobee made the trip to Shepparton on Tuesday night, which was worthwhile when she broke through for her maiden win at start number four.

The owner-breeder of the winner Emmy Mazzetti is the President of the Victorian Harness Racing Club and a VHRC bonus was on for the winner of that race if the owner was a Club member.

The Club offers $900,000 in bonuses at 26 tracks across the state throughout the season.

The winner’s dam Lucky Ha Ha is now owned by Joelene McSwain who apart from being connected to St Arnaud via the In-laws is remembered here for her winning drive on Anderson Racing’s pacer The Green Machine on March 2 nd 2003 at $44.40 the win.

An interesting concept was being tried at that time.

It evidently didn’t pass the mark, namely two Non-TAB races before the main programme started.

They raced for $1,500 each time and attracted twenty-two acceptances and evidently a bookie bet on them as the starting prices.

The basic minimum for the rest of the programme was $5,000.

With the TAB being almost irrelevant these days and the rising costs of going to races trials for prizemoney could be attractive to some.

Amongst the recipients of awards at last weekends awards night was Loddon Valley Stud’s John Campbell whose service to the breeding industry for over fifty years was recognised with the Ian Daff Memorial award, the Holy Grail for breeders.

Tonight the in-form McNaulty stable have Insider Trading in race 4 at Bendigo.

They will then go on to Stawell on Friday where they are introducing the running of the Pleasant Creek Plate

This is where pacers compete in the first two races of the day and those that qualify will contest the Plate final later in the afternoon.
