Maryborough VicRoads petition passes Parliament
The Maryborough VicRoads office, which is used by St Arnaud residents, was reclassified from a sub-branch to an agency before changes to VicRoads’ funding model left Central Goldfields Shire facing a financial shortfall.

The petition had more than 3,500 signatures – equivalent to nearly half of Maryborough – and calls for the State Government to reverse VicRoads’ unsustainable funding model and ensure that all services currently provided by the Maryborough VicRoads office are guaranteed.

Western Victoria MP and petition sponsor Bev McArthur praised the community for standing up against the government’s decision.
“This campaign was about farmers, students, seniors, and small businesses who have been ignored by Martha Haylett and Labor," she said.
