NO funding promises have been made for a new St Arnaud hospital if the State Government remains in power after the election in November.

The town and East Wimmera Health Service have been waiting more than a decade and a half for funding in order to upgrade the healthcare facilities.

And the wait will continue at this stage.

In response to the NCN Herald’s front page story on the hopes for funding following the State Budget, Ripon MP Martha Haylett made no promises to the town.

She said she had met with EWHS “a few times” to discuss upgrades.

“I have met their CEO many times about their upgrades and also brought the Minister for Health to see the need for herself,” she said.

“I remain committed to working with Trevor and his team to help the St Arnaud Hospital get future upgrades.”
