THE Charlton Probus Club held its annual Christmas gathering bringing together 38 members at the East Charlton Hotel for a short meeting followed by a festive meal.

Thirteen members were unable to attend the event on December 12..

The day began with Grace, read by Noreen Ryan, before members took part in six lucky number draws.

Festive cheer continued with the announcement of the Best Hat winners, awarded to Nick Huinck and Wendy Vandenelst.

Greg Barnard claimed the prize in the popular pass the parcel game, and the Travellers’ Farewell was delivered by Joan Mundy.

To close the occasion, President Kim extended warm Christmas wishes to all members.

The event was marked by good humour, camaraderie and a strong community spirit, setting a cheerful tone for the holiday season.

Birthday and Christmas all in one

THE Wycheproof Probus celebrated their 23rd birthday as well as their Annual Christmas party on December 11.

The committee had assembled on the afternoon before to set up and decorate the tables to create the “Xmas feel”.

Once again, each participant was gifted a small Christmas tree adornment as created by Lyn Grylls.

Probus welcomed fellow Probians from Donald and Charlton Probus clubs on the day.

Tuscan on Broadway were the caterers and supplied a sumptuous standard Christmas feast of chicken, turkey and ham with roast vegetables, followed by plum pudding with custard and cream.

At the beginning of the event, during interval and at the end, the group was entertained by Mick Coates playing his guitar and singing a number of recognised Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins and an array of county western songs, and included one of his own compositions, with all being much appreciated.

The official parts of the meeting were ably conducted by President Will Russ, and presentations of badges were made to those members who had served 20 plus years in Wycheproof Probus including Reg Pollard, Lyn Grylls, Rob Grylls, Elaine Storey, Lyn Cossar, Lyn Nichols, Des Nichols.

Overall, it was an enjoyable day’s entertainment that was enjoyed by all.
