The organisers of the Bible Museum in St Arnaud spoke out following the tragedy, letting the Jewish community know they were supported during this difficult time.
The letter reads:
“At this terrible time after the massacre of Jews at the Hannukah celebrations at Bondi Beach, we have expressed our support to the Jewish community by putting a Hannukah display in our front window, at the Bible Museum.
“The story of Hannukah is found in the Bible and Jesus visited the festival at Jerusalem over 2,000 years ago.
“There are several Jews living in St Arnaud and surrounding areas and they will be deeply affected by this horrible incident.
“We ourselves have been subject to anti-Semitic verbal abuse, in St Arnaud, due to our support of the Jewish community, andhave had to call the police.”
