Strength and speed keep Navies going on court

IN 14 and Under B, Charlton netballers were unable to trouble the scoreboard in the opening quarter against Sea Lake Nandaly.
But their defensive pressure was outstanding, with Alodia, Arlie and Yazmin taking multiple intercepts to restrict the Tigers to just two goals by the first break. Changes to the line-up at quarter time led to Charlton scoring two goals in the second term.
Sophie combined well through the entre with Lilymae, who played an excellent game on the attacking wing.

THE Navies started a little slowly in the 14 and Under A match, taking some time to hit the scoreboard.
However, the defensive combination of Marley and Arlie worked hard to keep the Tigers to a similar score, with the Navies trailing by just one goal at quarter time.
In the second quarter, Charlton made the most of defensive rebounds and intercepts from Sophie in the centre and Isabella on the defensive wing, allowing the Navies to take a two-goal lead into half time.
The third quarter was low scoring for both teams, with intercepts being taken all over the court as both sides applied strong defensive pressure.
In the final quarter, the Navies lifted to another level.
Lilymae, who had been positioning strongly on the wing throughout the game, combined beautifully with the attacking group.
Lily moved exceptionally well in the circle, while she and Rosie finished accurately to add seven goals to Charlton’s tally.

CHARLTON attackers worked hard in 17 and Under A to move the ball down the court and create opportunities in the ring.
Stella Nicolson had a great game, taking on feedback well and working hard throughout the match.
The defenders had a strong game, applying pressure all over the court to force errors in the opposition’s attack end.
Arleea Sarre was particularly strong under the ring, taking some great rebounds.

C Grade came up against a strong opposition this weekend with Sea Lake Nandaly outplaying the Navies to come away with the win. Many positives to come out of the game for Charlton to build on in the coming weeks.
Mary-Anne Pollard put on a strong performance in GD and was Best on Court. Coaches award went to Taylah Boyle who showed good defensive strength and speed through the Centre.

THE Navies struggled to hit the scoreboard early in the first quarter of B Grade, but plenty of defensive pressure saw us have some opportunities to bring the scoreline within reach by the end.
Some positional changes in our midcourt had us getting plenty of ball into our goalers who were facing some strong defenders.
A great second and third quarter had our girls keeping the game within reach.
However, a lapse in discipline and a number of small errors against a polished side saw us fall away in the last quarter.
Our girls continue to trial combinations across the court as we work to find our best lineup. Despite the result, there were encouraging moments and plenty to build on moving forward.

CHARLTON A Graders had a strong start keeping the pressure up to the Tigers early on.
Some small errors however saw our opposition gain momentum towards the end which continued into the game.
Defenders kept turning ball over providing us a number of opportunities that unfortunately were not being converted allowing the Tigers to extend their lead.
