A SUCCESSFUL four-week table tennis program for people of all abilities has recently concluded in Donald, with sessions conducted at the Donald Primary School stadium.

Participants travelled from McCallum Day Services in St Arnaud, Woodbine in Warracknabeal, and included several individual community members, all enjoying the opportunity to develop their table tennis skills while participating in a fun and supportive atmosphere.

Mallee Sports Assembly Wycheproof’s Rhonda Allan said Donald Primary School staff member Anthony Tatchell and his students played an important role in the delivery of the program, assisting with the facilitation of each session.

“The students planned a variety of fun warm-up activities prior to the table tennis matches, helping to create an engaging and welcoming environment for all participants,” she said.

“The strength of these “All Abilities” programs lies in their focus on participation, inclusion, and social connection rather than skill level or competition.

“Programs such as these provide valuable opportunities for people to stay active, improve wellbeing, and build positive social interactions.

Mrs Allan attended the final session and presented both schools with a laminated Certificate of Appreciation as a small token of gratitude for their valued support and involvement throughout the program.

Mallee Sports Assembly also acknowledges the staff of the participating day services for their ongoing encouragement and support in helping participants increase their involvement in physical activity.

Mrs Allan said it was another successful Access for All Abilities program that has now been completed, continuing to strengthen inclusive sport and recreation opportunities within the region.

This initiative forms part of the Access for All Abilities program funded by Sport and Recreation Victoria.
