Team strength given a workout
In its most comprehensive win of the season to date Kara Kara, on its home courts, trounced its opposition 132-57 games (8-2 points) to retain top position on the ladder.

ON TOP of the North Central Lawn Tennis Association ladder and with several players honing their skills for the Tennis Victorian Country Week tennis tournament this week, St Arnaud’s Kara Kara team was out to prove its strength against Wycheproof on Saturday.
And that’s what Kara Kara did.
In its most comprehensive win of the season to date Kara Kara, on its home courts, trounced its opposition 132-57 games (8-2 points) to retain top position on the ladder.
The Kara Kara Men’s Doubles combinations prevailed easily against the undermanned Wycheproof winning all sets for a 48-4 games outcome, while the Mixed Doubles pairings outclassed its opponents 48-13 games.
The one bright spot for Wycheproof was it’s Ladies Doubles team which prevailed 40-36 games over Kara Kara in a hard fought contest.
Three-set winners were Luke Jackson, Bruce Hando, Stephen Rodger, Jackson Needs, Ben Greenaway and Aimee Jones.
The St Arnaud team enjoyed a bye on Saturday but will be intent on regaining its second spot on the ladder when it faces Donald’s Avon team this Saturday, while Kara Kara will face Birchip’s Wirrim.
Meanwhile, three men’s doubles teams and one ladies’ doubles team from the St Arnaud Club will compete at this week’s Country week tournament in Shepparton and Mooroopna, the largest lawn tennis tournament in the world anticipating 1300 players in 33 sections played over the full week.
The Men’s Doubles team won its section in 2024 and narrowly missed a finals spot last year so hopes are high of at least one section winning team this year.
