AFTER two inches of rain the going was tough at golf on Saturday.

Most of the 15 players struggled to come to terms with the heavy conditions.

It ended up a three-way battle between the big hitting younger golfers for the weekly winner.

Charlie Ferguson won the countback from Ivan Jackson with 36 points to win the St Arnaud Physiotherapy best score of the day with Jimmy Coloe one shot further back.

Nearest the pins were the racing guru Bill Knights on the 6th, Ballarat visitor Brad Duke on the 8th, the wily Leigh Hines on the long 10th and this week’s best Jackson on the Weirs IGA 18th.

Next Saturday is the annual fundraising wood auction before golf at 10 am.

The Club has asked for people to please have their loads out there by 9am.

After the sale and before golf, there will be a barbeque with some snags to get back some energy for the afternoon’s golf.

There will then some rehydration therapy to round out the afternoon.

So if anyone is running short of warmth for the rest of winter please come along and get yourself a load.

There will be plenty of loads to go around.
