But weeks after a government committment to build the station, there are no answers.
NCN Herald contacted the CFA last week to finding out the timeline and next steps in the process.
This was met with a handball straight to the Premier’s office, where the questions remained unanswered yesterday.
Each day is added to the five years the Charlton CFA has already waited for its new facilities.
The brigade received its new a new 2020 Iveco Eurocargo Tanker that replaced its 34-year-old Isuzu Tanker in 2021. But this new tanker wouldn’t fit in the town’s now 95 year old shed.
Frustrations boiled over last September when captain Craig Walsh said he had struggled to get a response from Emergency Services minister Vicki Ward.
Mr Walsh said it was even more infuriating that land had been purchased for the shed years prior, and yet the sod still hadn’t been turned on it.
Excitement grew when the State Government announced Charlton would be included in State Budget funding back in May, but this was just one step in the long road ahead.
Mr Walsh said they wouldn’t stop until the build began.
“Look it is exciting, we’re appreciative, but it is just one hurdle,” he said.
“We shouldn’t be used to waiting, but because we are, it makes us question how long it will actually be until we can see the shed in front of us.
“We won’t relax until that build starts.”
Mr Walsh said plans he had seen for the $5 million build would be similar to that of the Irymple CFA station, which includes meeting rooms, changing facilities for both men and women and more.
The State Government was contacted for comment.
