Youngsters stepping up a grade

WITH both Boort and St Arnaud Under 17s missing several players for the match at Boort Park on Saturday, a number of Under 14 players stepped up into the older age group and performed well.

The match-ups remained tight and the tempo increased throughout the game. By half-time, the scores were level, with both teams locked on 13 points.
Stefan Murdzevski played a quality game through the midfield and kicked two goals.
The defence remained strong throughout the day, keeping the Saints in the contest. Austin Lowe was solid in the backline, while Max Ezard and Jesse James worked hard to drive the ball back St Arnaud’s way from defence.
Boort hit the front with two quick goals in the fourth quarter, and the pressure was felt across the field as the Saints desperately tried to regain control.
Charlie Baldwin kicked a much- needed goal before Finn Evans added another to seal the lead.
The Saints wore black armbands to honour the recent passing of long-time supporter Col Foster. The Courage and Determination Award, named in his honour, was presented to Jack Batters.
